“We allege that Apple has maintained monopoly power in the smartphone market, not simply by staying ahead of the competition on the merits, but by violating federal antitrust law,” Attorney General Merrick Garland said Thursday.        

Quinn Emanuel, Skadden, Wilson Sonsini, Sullivan & Cromwell, Gibson Dunn and O’Melveny are all representing parties in the lawsuit.

“We expect to see some methodology changes to the rankings this year,” Dave Killoran, chief executive officer of PowerScore Test Preparation, told Law.com Wednesday. “If they were to use the same methodology as last year, then anyone could predict the final outcomes since the rankings are built on public data.”        

Kirkland, Crowell, Quinn and Susman Godfrey, among others, have all had financial gains from contingency fee cases. “We’ve seen a noticeable increase in interest in building out plaintiff side practices,” said Evan Meyerson, at Burford Capital.
